abstract
conclusions the crude extract of streptomyces sp. acs52 had high antibacterial activity against a wide spectrum of bacteria and could be of interest due to its features such as ability to grow at low temperatures and alkaline ph levels. results streptomyces sp. acs52 is a cold-resistant alkalophilic bacterium strain with antibacterial activity against a broad spectrum of pathogenic bacteria. the fermentation medium containing glycerol and ethyl acetate was suitable for the production and extraction of antibacterial compound, respectively. glycerol and starch as the carbon source, soybean extract as the nitrogen source, temperature of 25°c, ph of 7, and inoculation rate of 10% were found to provide the optimal conditions for the antibacterial activity. background the ever-increasing resistance of microorganisms to pathogens and our inability to control infectious diseases indicate the importance of conducting research to find new antibiotics. objectives the aim of the present research was to isolate, identify, and optimize a cold and ph resistant strain of streptomyces with high antibiotic production capability. methods soil samples were taken from the telar forests of northern iran, and the acs52 strain was identified as a streptomyces strain based on the morphological, biochemical, and 16s rrna gene analysis. antibacterial features of the obtained strain were studied against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria using the cross-culture method. in order to evaluate the antibacterial activity of culture product, two seed cultures and three fermentation media were examined. finally, the effects of various factors such as the type of carbon and nitrogen sources, temperature, ph, and inoculation rate were investigated.

Isolation and Identification of Streptomyces ramulosus from Soil and Determination of Antimicrobial Property of its Pigment
Background and objective: Pigment production by microorganisms is important due to more rapid growth, higher efficiency, easier extraction, and antimicrobial effects compared to other methods. The aim of the present study is to isolate and identify antibiotic pigment-producing actinomycetes from the soil of the Persian Gulf and to evaluate the antibiotic activity of their pigments in the second...
full textIsolation and molecular identification of bacteria producing alkaline phosphatase enzyme from environmental sources
Alkaline phosphatase (ortho phosphate, monoester hydrolase phosphoinositide E. C. 3.1.3.1) is a non-specific metalloproteinase enzyme that is located inside periplasmic space of bacteria. This enzyme is used to measure freshwater sediment in genetic engineering for cleaning water. Isolation and molecular identification of the bacteria producing alkaline phosphatase and comparison of its product...
full textIsolation and identification of bioactive compound producing Rhodococcus spp. isolated from soil samples
The genus Rhodococcus is gram positive bacterium which was classified into the family of Nocardiaceae. The organism can be isolates from different sources, with capability to degrade diverse types of pollutant. Nowadays, scientists reported a few secondary metabolites which are produced by Rhodococci. Hence, the present study tried to isolate Rhodococci from different soil samples with the cap...
full textLeinamycin, a new antitumor antibiotic from Streptomyces: producing organism, fermentation and isolation.
Leinamycin (DC 107) is newly discovered antitumor antibiotic with an unusual 1,3-dioxo-1,2-dithiolane structure. Five different producing strains were isolated from soils collected in Japan during 1985-1988 and were taxonomically assigned as Streptomyces. Fermentation studies indicate: Leinamycin was unstable in culture broth. A chemically defined medium could be designed for a preferable produ...
full textPhylogenetics of an antibiotic producing Streptomyces strain isolated from soil
Traditional methods of species classification and identification of the organism are based on morphological, physiological, biochemical, developmental and nutritional characteristics. Accurate assignment of taxonomic status to the new biologically active microbial isolates through existing bioinformatics methods is now very essential and also helpful in chemical characterization of the active m...
